At Midwest Vein Care we can accurately customize vein treatments by performing a Duplex Scan.

Our ultrasonographer/RVT (register vascular technologist) will perform a detailed scan of your lower extremity venous system in the convenience of our office. This will allow us to customize a treatment plan to meet each patient's needs.

Duplex (Doppler) ultrasound is a noninvasive method used to examine blood circulation. A Doppler ultrasound test uses reflected sound waves to evaluate blood flow in the veins. It is valuable in diagramming the vein size, shape and distribution (mapping) as well as the character of the blood flowing within the vein.

The duplex exam will show us if your venous valves are working properly, keeping the blood moving towards the heart. Malfunctioning or incompetent valves allow blood to move backwards toward the feet and is considered to be a medically significant abnormality. It will also determine if there are blood clots (DVT) or narrowing in the veins.

Ultrasound technology is also a valuable tool guiding our vein therapy: utlrasound guided sclerotherapy and endovenous thermal ablation.
